GINDRE TODAY

Recent decades have seen the Group, a family business at the start, rise into the foremost rank of world copper suppliers to the electricity industry. The production units make bars, profiles and copper wire, keeping in step with the technological evolution in extrusion, drawing and industrial engineering, to achieve our present capacity and production quality, meeting the most demanding standards.
At the same time, the company has logically extended its expertise to design and manufacture based on its semi-finished products using increasingly sophisticated components.
This total industrial process, relying on highly customer-orientated distribution logistics, is today established in ten countries through subsidiaries and partners and more than 500 people.

PRINCIPAL DATES

1823 Creation by Charles Marie Duchavany. Originally, the company was mainly in charge of the finishing of haberdasher shop items for men's fashion of the time. It made golden and silver threads, as well as accessories for the decoration of churches. Shortly afterwards, association with Johannès Gindre and advent of the industrial epoch which sees the use of electricity. Gindre-Duchavany is transformed into a purveyor of pressed or drawn copper wires and bars.
1986 Creation of GINDRE COMPOSANTS to answer ever increasing requests of the energy industries.
1998 Creation in the United States of GINDRE LLC to ensure the distribution of the group's production in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
2000 Acquisition in Germany of KUPFERRHEYDT a company over a hundred years old and in the past a parent of Alcatel. Thanks to its know-how and its infrastructure using the very latest technological equipment, Kupferrheydt is within the group today the producer of flexible MAXIFLEX bars.
2002 Acquisition in Great Britain of METELEC to mainly concentrate the activity on the distribution of copper components and half-finished products on the UK market.
2006 Creation in Spain of GINDRE-TORNS through the acquisition of the Torns Company to ensure production and logistics in the Iberian Peninsula.
2007 Incorporation in the A-TEC INDUSTRIES group listed on the Vienna (Austria) stock market through its Minerals&Metals GmbH division which also includes the Montanwerke-Brixlegg Company. 
2009 Creation of a trade office in Moscow, RUSSIA.
2009 Creation in India of GINDRE INDIA COMPONENTS to ensure the production and logistics of the group's products.
2012 Gindre Group and Montanwerke Brixlegg sold to UMCOR HOLDING GmbH, Vienna (Austria).
2014 Creation in Great Britain of EARTHMET ltd. company specializing in ground products.
2015 Acquisition of Groupe Gindre by  ALPIN AG (Swiss).
